Alright, film buffs and foodies, get ready for a cinematic treat! 3388 Films has just snagged the international distribution rights – including North America – to "Scent Of Pho," a Vietnamese film that's already making waves during the Tet Lunar New Year celebrations. And honestly, the premise alone has me craving a steaming bowl of phở.

'Scent Of Pho' Goes Global! Will This Indie Film B...

Beyond our shores, 3388 Films is planning to roll out "Scent Of Pho" across Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and even Japan. For the rest of the world, Lotte Entertainment of South Korea will be handling the distribution. So, basically, everyone's going to get a taste of this heartwarming story. The North American release is slated for mid-March, so mark your calendars!

The film itself stars veteran actor Xuân Hinh and the talented Thu Trang. The story centers around a father fiercely dedicated to his family's beloved phở business. The real kicker? He decides to pass the torch to his grandson, which, of course, doesn't sit too well with his daughter-in-law. Ah, the classic generational clash! We've all been there, haven't we?

The producers highlight the film's universal appeal, noting that the generational theme will resonate with audiences of all ages. They also emphasize the portrayal of a hardworking father quietly shouldering his family's burdens. That's something everyone can relate to, regardless of where you're from. I know my own family has stories like that!

According to 3388 Films, they're thrilled to bring this culturally rich and meaningful film to a global audience. And it’s not just about food and family drama; "Scent Of Pho" also delves into the cultural nuances between North and South Vietnam. That's the kind of depth that really elevates a film, in my opinion.

Adding to the authenticity, the movie was filmed in Hanoi’s Old Quarter and includes a phở festival sequence. Plus, Vũ Ngọc Vượng, founder of the renowned Ngọc Vượng phở chain, was brought in to advise on the cooking scenes. They clearly didn’t skimp on the details! And get this: the soundtrack is a blend of traditional Vietnamese music with a modern rap and Xuân Hinh’s xẩm performance mashup, produced by Christian Dinh Gulino, who’s worked with some big names like Sam Smith and Jessie J. Talk about a diverse soundtrack!

Finally, "Scent Of Pho" marks the directorial debut of Minh Beta, a Vietnamese entrepreneur who founded Beta Group, a chain of affordable theaters. So, he's not just a director, he’s a singer, actor, and someone deeply invested in Vietnamese cinema. This film sounds like it has all the ingredients for a truly special cinematic experience. I, for one, am looking forward to checking it out in March. Time to brush up on my Vietnamese!
