Okay, car enthusiasts, buckle up! It seems BMW might have just accidentally spilled the beans on its future lineup, and there are some seriously juicy tidbits in there. My colleague over in the States, Adrian Padeanu, spotted what looks like a preliminary model list on BMW's US website. Now, these things are usually closely guarded secrets, so this is pretty exciting stuff.
BMW 2026: SHOCK Leaks! What's Coming Will BLOW You...
First up, the M2. I know a lot of purists out there are going to groan, but it looks like an M2 xDrive is on the way. Yep, all-wheel drive is coming to the baby M car. According to the leak, it'll be paired exclusively with an automatic transmission. While this might add some weight and a bit to the price tag, it's also likely to make the M2 even quicker off the line. Don't despair too much, though, rear-wheel-drive fans! Both the "pure" rear-wheel-drive and the xDrive versions of the M2 are apparently expected to stick around until at least the end of 2029.
The bread-and-butter 3 Series isn't being left out either. The current M340i xDrive is apparently getting replaced by an M350 xDrive. This likely indicates a new generation 3 Series sedan is right around the corner, bringing with it a revised M Performance version. On the electric front, the i3 sedan, which has been making waves, will see the addition of two new all-wheel drive variants: the i3 40 xDrive and the i3 50 xDrive.
SUVs, naturally, are a big focus. The iX3 is set to get a broader range, with the addition of a 40 sDrive (rear-wheel drive), alongside the 40 xDrive and 50 xDrive models. Currently, only the iX3 50 xDrive is available in some markets, so this offers greater choice. And the new BMW X5? That's on the list too, with the entry-level version surprisingly sticking with a 40 sDrive, maintaining its rear-wheel-drive setup. An iX5 60 xDrive will also be joining the party, adding another all-electric SUV option.
Even the flagship 7 Series is getting some love. A 740i xDrive version pops up, though the image was conveniently blurred (suspicious, BMW, very suspicious!). Noticeably absent is any mention of a 760i version. However, all hope isn't lost for fans of internal combustion. BMW is expected to retain its V8 engine, which is good news, but the V12 is almost certainly not making a comeback. We'll miss that brute.
Finally, a sad note for fans of roadsters and grand tourers. The Z4 and 8 Series, it seems, are nearing the end of their production runs. They weren't included on this leaked list. It's always a little bittersweet to see models fade away, but BMW's clearly focused on its Neue Klasse future. Plenty to look forward to, even if we're saying goodbye to some familiar faces. Now, the big question is: how long until BMW officially confirms (or denies!) all this?
