Israel & US Strike Iran?! What Happens Next Will SHOCK You!
Current Affairs 28 February 2026

Tehran is reeling this morning after a coordinated U.S.-Israeli strike ignited the region on Saturday. Initial reports paint a picture of widespread devastation and escalating tensions, with both sides exchanging missile barrages across a vast geographical area.

The strikes, greenlit by President Trump, were framed as a necessary measure to dismantle Iran's military infrastructure and, crucially, prevent the development of nuclear weapons. Trump himself declared it a "massive undertaking," signaling a significant escalation from the war of words and sanctions that have characterized the US-Iran relationship for years. This comes after years of pressure to renegotiate the nuclear deal, something Trump has made a centerpiece of his foreign policy.

Predictably, Iran responded with fury. The Foreign Ministry vowed unwavering defense of the homeland, while the Revolutionary Guard launched retaliatory strikes, unleashing drones and missiles at targets in Israel and at U.S. military installations scattered across the Middle East. Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar, all housing significant U.S. military presence, found themselves in the crosshairs. It's a dangerous game of tit-for-tat that risks spiraling completely out of control.

The human cost is already mounting. IRNA, Iran's state-run news agency, reports at least 57 killed and 45 wounded in a strike on a girls' school in southern Iran. Such reports are incredibly difficult to independently verify in these chaotic situations, but the sheer scale is chilling. Adding to the tragedy, shrapnel from an Iranian missile reportedly claimed a life in the UAE, bringing the conflict even closer to home for many.

Perhaps the most audacious element of the initial strikes was the reported targeting of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's compound in Tehran. Reports indicate explosions rocked the area near his offices early Saturday. Khamenei's whereabouts remain unclear, fueling speculation and uncertainty. Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi assured NBC News that both Khamenei and President Pezeshkian were alive "as far as I know," a rather unconvincing statement given the circumstances.

Israeli Defense Minister Katz characterized the attacks as efforts "to remove threats." And while Lt. Col. Shoshani downplayed the impact of Iranian missile barrages on Israel, reporting no significant hits or injuries, an apartment building was damaged, and shrapnel fell across multiple locations, a stark reminder of the ever-present danger. Even more concerning, Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen are threatening to resume attacks on Red Sea shipping routes and Israel, further expanding the conflict's potential reach. This is shaping up to be a long and bloody affair, with no easy exit in sight. Frankly, I'm worried about where this is heading.
