Gordon Murray's T.50 supercar is almost ready to hit the road, or rather, the track. It feels like just yesterday that we were all collectively drooling over initial sketches, and now, six years later, deliveries are finally expected to commence before the year is out. Time truly flies, especially when you're anticipating something this special.

Gordon Murray's T.50: Final Tests! What Happens Ne...

Following its initial launch in 2020, all 100 road-going T.50s were snapped up almost instantly. Now, the even more extreme T.50s Niki Lauda version – a track-only beast honoring the legendary driver – is undergoing its final testing phase. And the reports coming back are, to put it mildly, glowing.

One test driver, whose name wasn’t released but who definitely knows a thing or two about speed, stated that the T.50s is "the most immersive car I have ever driven." High praise indeed. He went on to say that in terms of pure driving enjoyment, it surpasses not only other track-only models and his favorite supercars, but even the racing cars in which he won multiple world championships. To hear someone with that level of experience gushing like that really speaks volumes about what Murray and his team have accomplished.

So, what makes the T.50s Niki Lauda so special? Well, let's start with the heart of the matter: a Cosworth-developed 3.9-liter V12. This isn't just any V12; it's a screaming, naturally aspirated masterpiece that produces a staggering 761 bhp at 11,500 rpm and revs all the way to an unbelievable 12,100 rpm. That power is channeled through a six-speed paddle-shift gearbox. Add to that a central driving position – reminiscent of the McLaren F1, of course – and a fully adjustable aerodynamics package capable of generating up to 1,200 kg of downforce, and you've got a recipe for serious performance. Oh, and did I mention the curb weight is estimated to be just under 900 kg? That’s lighter than a lot of hatchbacks!

According to Gordon Murray Automotive, four customer cars have already been built, with production ramping up in the coming weeks. All 25 examples of the T.50s Niki Lauda have already been spoken for, which comes as absolutely no surprise. Deliveries are still on track to begin before the end of the year. If you're one of the lucky few who managed to snag one, get ready for what sounds like the ultimate track day weapon. The rest of us will just have to live vicariously through YouTube videos.
