Gamers, dust off those racing wheels! "Project Motor Racing" (PMR), the title that launched with a bit of a sputter last November, is promising a major comeback. The developers, in a refreshingly candid admission, acknowledged they stumbled out of the gate. They didn't just whisper it; they shouted it from the digital rooftops: "We let you down, and we let ourselves down." Ouch. You don't hear that kind of honesty every day in the gaming world.
Racing Team Apologizes: What Went TERRIBLY Wrong?!
Now, honesty is one thing, but action speaks louder than words, right? Well, the studio is banking on a major update slated for release at the end of the month to do just that – speak volumes. They're promising to overhaul the game's core mechanics. No small task, that. They’re clearly aiming to address the criticisms that have been swirling around PMR since its debut, specifically regarding its feel and realism.
The development team has been burning the midnight oil, apparently. According to their statement, they've been "tirelessly" working to improve the game, and they've already pushed out seven patches. "We’re now seven patches into making PMR the experience you want," they said. Seven patches! That's a lot of fine-tuning, and it's a clear sign they're taking player feedback seriously. It’s a far cry from some studios that seem to ignore player concerns after launch.
It's interesting to see how they're trying to win back players. For instance, the most recent update included the 2013 Ford FG Falcon V8 Supercar – a sweet ride, and free for everyone. That's a nice gesture. They've also given the GT4 class a complete makeover, which should make those races more engaging. I've always been partial to the GT4 cars in racing sims; they strike a good balance between accessibility and challenge.
The big question, of course, is whether this upcoming mega-update will truly transform PMR into the racing experience it was meant to be. Can they deliver on their promise and capture that elusive essence of real motorsport? Only time will tell. But the studio's transparency and commitment to improvement are definitely steps in the right direction. We'll be keeping a close eye on this one. Stay tuned for our full review once the update drops!
