ABT is turning 130, and they're celebrating in a way that only ABT can: with a monstrous, gold-infused, carbon fiber-clad Audi RS6. Dubbed the RS6-LE, this isn't just a tune-up; it's a statement. The Allgäu-based tuning house, known for pushing the envelope, is kicking off its anniversary with a seriously compelling narrative – and a car that'll likely break the internet.
800HP Anniversary Beast Unleashed! Is ABT's RS6-LE...
Think about it: ABT started as a humble farrier shop in 1896, founded by Johann Baptist Abt in Kempten. Fast forward through generations, partnerships with Horch and Audi (a connection that still defines them), and a pivotal moment when Johann Abt's grandson, a racing enthusiast himself, launched the Auto-Abt tuning division in 1967. I remember seeing their tuned Golfs back in the day – it was a game-changer. They were among the first to seriously modify that little hatchback, and in 1980, they were pioneering electronic power increases, laying the groundwork for the chiptuning we know today.
The 1990s saw ABT transform into a global player, relocating to their current headquarters on Johann-Abt-Straße. Now, a century and three decades later, they're marking their anniversary with this, a truly bonkers Audi RS 6. And honestly, it's quite a thing to behold.
Based on the already potent 2023 "Legacy Edition," the RS6-LE takes things to a whole new level. Where the previous modification package offered a "mere" 760 hp, this one cranks out a mind-boggling 800 hp. The 4.0-liter V8 now boasts a monstrous 980 Nm of torque. How'd they do it? New turbochargers, a custom intercooler, and an optimized oil cooling system are the key ingredients, regardless of whether you're starting with a standard RS 6 or the Performance model. And, of course, a stainless steel exhaust system with four 102 mm outlets ensures everyone *hears* you coming.
The visuals are just as aggressive. The satin gold matte 22-inch forged wheels are the first thing that grabs your attention. The logos, front lip accents, and elements around the rear diffuser are finished in a distinctive "Neodym" tone. The aerodynamic package is, well, let's just say it's not subtle. And to keep all that power under control, adjustable coilover suspension springs and sport anti-roll bars are employed.
Inside, it's all about Alcantara and exposed carbon fiber. You can even opt for a dashboard and seat upholstery featuring a special Neodym particle pattern on the carbon fiber, which is a really nice touch. And as a unique little detail, each of the 30 examples includes an "ABT time capsule" – a jubilee coin. It’s details like that which make it special, beyond just the horsepower figure.
Of course, all this performance and exclusivity comes at a price. The ABT RS6-LE 800 conversion package alone costs a cool €108,000, plus another €13,640 for installation and TÜV approval. But hey, if you're looking for a truly unique and powerful RS 6, and you want to celebrate 130 years of ABT history, this might just be the ticket.
