Alright, buckle up, car enthusiasts! Hyundai and Genesis are about to unleash a tidal wave of new vehicles upon North America. We're talking a whopping 58 new models – that’s a lot of metal and tech vying for your hard-earned dollars. And thankfully, judging by what we've seen so far, they're not *all* going to be SUVs.
Hyundai & Genesis SHOCK North America! 58 New Mode...
The recent unveiling of the Boulder concept at the New York Auto Show (remember, the one in '26? Seems like yesterday, doesn’t it?) was just a taste of what's to come. Hyundai itself is promising 36 new or refreshed models by 2030. That's an average of more than five new vehicles *per year*. Hyundai CEO José Muñoz dropped the news bomb in a letter to shareholders, also mentioning that we can expect the next-generation Elantra and Tucson to make their debut in South Korea sometime this year. Color me intrigued.
Hyundai's plan is ambitious, to say the least. We’re talking a full-court press with cars, SUVs, pickups (yes, pickups!), and even commercial vehicles. And it's not just about quantity; they’re aiming for variety too. Expect to see a buffet of trim levels, including the high-performance "N" line and the off-road-ready "XRT" variants. The powerplant options will be similarly diverse, with gasoline, hybrid, and electric models all in the mix. Even more interestingly, they're apparently tinkering with range-extender electric vehicles, which use a combustion engine to generate electricity for the battery. Now *that's* some clever engineering.
Genesis, Hyundai's luxury arm, isn't sitting idle either. They're planning to roll out 22 new models over the same period. Predictably, SUVs will be a major part of their lineup, and let’s hope they dare to bring some of those gorgeous Genesis concepts to life. I’m personally still drooling over the X Gran Equator – it could seriously give the Mercedes G-Class a run for its money. And a production version of the G90 Wingback, positioned above the G70 Shooting Brake? Yes, please!
And for the speed demons among us, Genesis is creating a new performance sub-brand called Magma. At the head of that table will supposedly be a production version of the GT concept. They’re positioning it as a true supercar. Meanwhile, at the more accessible end of the spectrum, there’s whispers that the G70 might get a second facelift to keep it fresh for a little while longer. So, a bit of something for everyone. It's an exciting time to be a car enthusiast, that's for sure. The next few years should be very interesting indeed.
