Poncle, the indie studio that unleashed the addictive chaos of *Vampire Survivors* onto the world, has just revealed their next project: *Vampire Crawlers*. While there's no firm release date yet, one thing is clear: they’re doing everything they can to avoid colliding with a certain behemoth on the horizon, namely, *Grand Theft Auto VI*.
Vampire Survivors Dev's SHOCKING GTA 6 Strategy! W...
In an interview with GameSpot, Poncle's Luca Galante admitted they initially aimed for a 2025 launch for *Vampire Crawlers*. However, the decision to integrate more robust deckbuilding mechanics threw a wrench in those plans. This feature, while undoubtedly adding depth to the gameplay, has unfortunately pushed the release window into 2026 – the same year Rockstar's gaming juggernaut, *GTA 6*, is scheduled to arrive.
Rockstar officially announced *GTA 6*'s release date as November 19, 2026, and Galante isn’t entirely sure when *Vampire Crawlers* will launch. That being said, he expressed a strong desire to avoid launching *Vampire Crawlers* anywhere near it. As he put it, "the whole world" is going to be consumed by *GTA 6* when it finally drops. Honestly, it's a fair point. Remember the hype (and server crashes!) around the last GTA release? Trying to launch anything significant in its immediate shadow is, well, brave to say the least.
It's a smart move, honestly. We've all seen promising games get completely overshadowed by a major release. And with *GTA 6* poised to be the biggest game launch in history, it's understandable that Poncle would want to give their game a fighting chance. It's not about a lack of confidence in *Vampire Crawlers*; it's about simple market reality. Why compete for attention when you can launch in a less crowded space?
So, what can we expect from *Vampire Crawlers*? The official reveal trailer showcases a dark fantasy world with roguelike elements, and of course, vampires. Adding the deckbuilding component into the mix suggests a strategic layer not present in *Vampire Survivors*, potentially appealing to a broader audience. However, the release date is still up in the air. Whether it’ll arrive before or after *GTA 6* is anyone's guess. Until then, fingers crossed for a smooth development process and a launch that gives *Vampire Crawlers* the attention it deserves...away from the *GTA 6* storm.
