England Survive Argentina Scare! What Will Happen Next?!

England may have emerged victorious at Twickenham, notching their 11th consecutive Test win, but let's be honest, it wasn't exactly a walk in the park. Argentina, fuelled by some serious second-half fire, really put the pressure on. The final scoreline doesn't quite reflect just how close this one was, especially in those tense final minutes.

England Survive Argentina Scare! What Will Happen ...

A major talking point has to be the performance of Max Ojomoh. Making only his second appearance for England, and first since a run-out against the USA last summer, he certainly made a statement. Scoring a try and generally being a menace in attack, he was instrumental in building that crucial first-half lead. You could see the confidence radiating off him, and it was infectious for the rest of the squad.

The first half really belonged to England, with tries from Ojomoh and Feyi-Waboso, and Ford keeping the scoreboard ticking over with his boot. That pinpoint crossfield kick from Ojomoh was a thing of beauty, setting up a try that really put Argentina on the back foot. At 17-3 at halftime, it looked like England might cruise to victory. But, as we all know, rugby rarely goes according to script.

Argentina came out after the break a completely different beast. They'd clearly had a stern talking-to in the changing room. That comeback win against Scotland last week clearly gave them some serious belief, and they started playing with real intensity. Piccardo's try ignited the comeback, and suddenly, the Twickenham crowd were on the edge of their seats. Penalties from Albornoz and Carreras brought them within a single point, and you could feel the tension in the air. I even saw a few nervous glances from the England coaching staff.

England did manage to regain their composure, thankfully. A powerful run from Coles, providing the kind of impact we needed, set up Slade for a crucial try under the posts. Ford, cool as ever, slotted the conversion and then added a penalty, giving England some breathing room. But the drama wasn't over yet. Isgro's late try made it a nail-biting finish, and those last few minutes felt like an eternity.

Argentina threw everything they had at England in those final plays, spurred on by their vocal supporters. The atmosphere was electric, a real cauldron of noise. But England held firm. That final line-out went awry for the Pumas, sparking celebrations among the home fans, and Alex Mitchell booted the ball into the stands to seal the win. While a victory is a victory, and it caps off a mostly successful year for England (that Dublin defeat still stings!), they'll know they need to be more clinical if they want to maintain this winning streak. They were lucky to get away with this one, let’s be honest.
