Big news out of Hollywood today! Amazon MGM Studios is diving into the world of young adult fiction, and they're doing it with some serious talent. The studio is developing a feature film adaptation of Jessica Warman’s popular YA novel, "Repeat After Me," and they've tapped Rebecca Webb to handle the screenplay. I've read Warman's book, and it's got the kind of gripping emotional core that could really resonate on screen. A good adaptation is crucial, though.

What’s particularly interesting is that Premeditated Productions, operating under their existing first-look deal with Amazon MGM, will be producing the film. That means Liz Pelletier and Sherryl Clark will be the guiding hands behind this project. These types of production deals can be a real boon, providing stability and a steady stream of projects for both the studio and the production company.
For Rebecca Webb, this is shaping up to be a banner year. Not only is she adapting "Repeat After Me," but her first produced feature, "Kissing is the Easy Part," based on that wildly popular Wattpad/Webtoon series, is hitting Tubi just in time for Valentine's Day. Talk about timing! That's going to give her some great momentum heading into this new project. It feels like she's on a roll, and for good reason.
Webb's resume is quickly filling up with impressive credits. She recently adapted "Devilina" for Atlas Comics and Paramount, and "Cinnamon & Gunpowder" for Riva Marker, with Karen Gillan attached to star – seriously, that sounds amazing. On the TV side, she co-wrote "Sacred Lamb" with Nick Cuse for New Regency, and "Paradise List" with Blake Lively’s BforEffort. See what I mean? The woman's busy!
And it doesn’t stop there! Webb is also juggling a romantic comedy for Working Title, a musical biopic for A24 with Pippa Bianco directing (A24 doing a biopic? Color me intrigued!), and a fairytale comedy with Iliza Shlesinger. It sounds like her agents at UTA and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller are working overtime to keep her schedule straight. Honestly, with all these projects in the works, it's safe to say Rebecca Webb is one screenwriter to watch. I can't wait to see how she brings "Repeat After Me" to life.
