Netflix's "One Piece" is doubling down on its already impressive cast, adding Awdo Awdo and Daisy Head for the upcoming Season 3, according to a Deadline exclusive. Awdo is set to bring the stoic Mr. 1 to life, while Head, known for her performances in "Shadow and Bone" and "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves," will embody the spiky Miss Doublefinger. This really shows Netflix is serious about adapting this massive manga for a global audience.
'One Piece' Season 3 Cast REVEALED! You Won't BELI...
The actors are already immersed in the world of pirates and devil fruits, currently filming in Cape Town where production for the third season is well underway. Cape Town seems to be becoming a real hub for large-scale productions these days, which is great for their local film industry.
Season 2, which is what we're all eagerly awaiting in the meantime, promises to throw Luffy and his Straw Hats into even deeper, more dangerous waters. As they navigate the Grand Line – that legendary and notoriously unpredictable sea – they'll face even more bizarre islands and encounter some seriously formidable new opponents. Think pirates on steroids, basically. Their quest for the ultimate treasure, the "One Piece," will be anything but a walk in the park. I, for one, am excited to see how they bring these iconic storylines to life.
Of course, we'll be seeing the return of our core Straw Hat crew: Iñaki Godoy as the ever-optimistic Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as the deadly swordsman Zoro, Emily Rudd as the clever navigator Nami, Jacob Romero as the sometimes-brave Usopp, and Taz Skylar as the suave chef Sanji. Charithra Chandran will also be back, reprising her role as Miss Wednesday. Good to see some familiar faces sticking around for the long haul.
But wait, there's more! Several Season 2 cast members are getting promoted to series regulars for Season 3, signaling even bigger roles for these characters. This includes Mikaela Hoover as the adorable Chopper, Joe Manganiello as the enigmatic Mr. 0 (aka Crocodile), Lera Abova as the mysterious Miss All Sunday, and Sendhil Ramamurthy as the noble Nefartari Cobra. It's clear they're building a rich, interwoven narrative with plenty of players.
And let's not forget the previously announced additions: Cole Escola joining the cast as the flamboyant Bon Clay, and Xolo Maridueña stepping into the shoes of the fiery Portgas D. Ace. The roster just keeps getting better and better. The casting choices have been consistently solid, and these new additions only solidify that reputation.
"One Piece" is a true collaboration, brought to life by Shueisha, Tomorrow Studios (an ITV Studios partner), and Netflix. Matt Owens and Joe Tracz are steering the ship as co-showrunners, writers, and executive producers for Season 2, with Tracz partnering with Ian Stokes for Season 3. Eiichiro Oda himself, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Tetsu Fujimura, Chris Symes, Christoph Schrewe, and Steven Maeda also serve as executive producers. With this much talent behind the scenes, "One Piece" is in good hands.
Awdo is represented by Gersh, Gilchrist Management, and Vault Entertainment, while Head is repped by Gordon & French and Luber Roklin. So, keep an eye out for these rising stars – they're about to set sail on a grand adventure.
