Splitgate Returns! Is This The Shooter's Last Chance?!
Gaming News 26 November 2025

Splitgate 2 is getting a second chance. After a somewhat rocky start, 1047 Games has announced that the current beta phase for Splitgate 2 will be wrapping up next week, with a full relaunch planned before the end of December. It's a bold move, but perhaps a necessary one for the free-to-play shooter.

Splitgate Returns! Is This The Shooter's Last Chan...

The developers took to the game's Steam page to thank players who participated in the beta. They also noted that the beta season, active battle passes, and any seasonal rank progress you've grinded for will be ending on December 4th. So, if you're looking to squeeze in one last match or unlock that elusive skin, time's running out!

While we're still waiting on a firm date for the relaunch, 1047 Games has said that preparations will begin as soon as the beta servers go offline. They're aiming for a full release sometime later in December, so mark your calendars, folks. This could be the refresh the game needs.

It's no secret that Splitgate 2 hasn't had the smoothest ride. The studio has faced some serious hurdles, including a couple of rounds of layoffs – never a good sign. I remember when the initial launch stirred up some controversy too, and not the good kind. A cosmetic bundle, originally priced at a whopping $80 (allegedly discounted from $145!), really rubbed some players the wrong way. It felt a bit…predatory, to be honest. 1047 Games did eventually backtrack, halving the price and reducing costs across the store, which shows they're at least listening to the community.

The big question, of course, is whether this second attempt will be the turning point Splitgate 2 needs. Can it capture the hearts (and wallets) of gamers and inject some fresh energy into the first-person shooter landscape? The market is certainly crowded, with established giants like Call of Duty and Apex Legends dominating the scene. Splitgate's unique portal mechanic offered a genuinely interesting twist, but it needs more than just a gimmick to succeed long-term. I'm cautiously optimistic, but only time will tell if 1047 Games can pull off this resurrection. Let's hope they've learned from their mistakes and are ready to deliver a truly polished and engaging experience this time around.
