Lincoln Riley SHOCKER! Will He REALLY Stay at USC?
Sports 26 November 2025

Alright, folks, let's address the elephant in the room, or rather, the Trojan in the Coliseum. Rumors have been swirling faster than Caleb Williams scrambling for a first down about Lincoln Riley's future at USC. With high-profile coaching gigs opening up all over the country – LSU, Penn State, Florida, Auburn… you name it – naturally, people are wondering if the Oklahoma defector is having second thoughts about sunny California.

Lincoln Riley SHOCKER! Will He REALLY Stay at USC?

Well, straight from the horse's mouth, er, the coach's mouth: Riley is doubling down on his commitment to the Trojans. He's emphatically stated, again, that he's not going anywhere. In fact, he went as far as to say he'll "100%" be back in 2026. That's about as definitive as you can get in the ever-unpredictable world of college football.

This isn't the first time Riley has had to swat away these kinds of rumors, of course. Earlier this month, he even went so far as to say that he "sacrificed" to leave Oklahoma and that USC is "where" he needs "to be." Now, some might roll their eyes at the "sacrifice" part – trading Norman, Oklahoma for Los Angeles isn't exactly hardship duty, if you ask me. But the sentiment is clear: he's invested in this program.

The timing of these rumors, and Riley's reaffirmations, is interesting, to say the least. It all comes after a tough road loss to Oregon, a 42-27 drubbing that dropped USC to 8-3 overall and 6-2 in Big Ten play. They're still ranked No. 17, but the shine has definitely come off after those early-season College Football Playoff aspirations. Maybe the AD is twisting arms. Who knows?

Look, college football is a business, and loyalty is a rare commodity. Coaches jump ship all the time for greener pastures (or bigger paychecks). But for now, at least, it seems like Riley is content to try and build something special at USC. Whether he can actually deliver on that promise remains to be seen. They finish the regular season with a rivalry game against UCLA. A strong showing would certainly quiet the doubters a bit. But for now, Trojan fans can breathe a sigh of relief, at least until the next round of coaching carousel rumors starts spinning.
