Let's be honest, Destiny 2 had its ups and downs. But after spending two days previewing the upcoming "Renegades" expansion, I can confidently say that Bungie might just have pulled off something special. It feels... revitalized. And surprisingly, it felt a lot like Star Wars, and I am here for it.
Destiny 2: Renegades - Is This DLC Enough to Save ...
The core premise is familiar, but compelling: Humanity's last safe haven has been obliterated. Ghaul, a ridiculously imposing commander of the Red Legion, has not only conquered the city but also stripped Guardians of their Light – their power. Now, scattered and vulnerable, the survivors are forced to scatter. It's a classic underdog story, and I'm already invested.
This isn’t just a rehash of the same old content, though. We're talking about venturing to completely new, uncharted territories within our solar system. Bungie is promising a treasure trove of weapons and devastating new combat abilities. Honestly, that's what the game needed, fresh abilities to make me feel like a real space hero again. Think Force powers, but with a Destiny twist. I was able to wield a void energy scythe! It was awesome!
The narrative hook is also sharper this time around. It’s not just about shooting aliens; it's about reuniting humanity’s fragmented heroes. The challenge will be to band together, reclaim what was lost, and confront Ghaul's threat head-on. That shared purpose, that need for unity, it's what resonated with me the most during the preview. It felt like I had a reason to fight.
Frankly, the expansion looks to be a complete overhaul, not just a content patch. It's bringing a sense of scope, ambition, and maybe even a little bit of that "Star Wars magic" to the Destiny universe. The fate of humanity rests on our shoulders. But if the two-day preview is anything to go by, we might finally have the tools, and more importantly, the reason to fight for it.
