Indie Shogun & Trinity Content's 'Swipe!': Nick Moran's New Role REVEALED!

British indie film is about to get a whole lot smaller… and potentially a whole lot bigger, all at the same time. Shogun Films, known for its gritty, low-budget crime flicks, is teaming up with Trinity Content Partners to plunge into the red-hot microdrama arena with a project called *Swipe!*. This isn't just any microdrama, though; they're planning to shoot a full-length feature film alongside it, a pretty clever move if you ask me.

Indie Shogun & Trinity Content's 'Swipe!': Nick Mo...

The project boasts some serious talent. Nick Moran, instantly recognizable from *Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels* and even the *Harry Potter* franchise, will play the villain. Moran is no stranger to Shogun Films, having appeared in several of their past productions. The whole thing is being steered by writer-director Paul Knight, the man behind *24 Hours In London*, and produced by Jonathan Sothcott, a name synonymous with, well, let's just say "genre" films like *Strippers vs Werewolves*. Sounds like a wild ride!

So, what's *Swipe!* actually about? The synopsis paints a picture of a classic crime thriller. Three young blokes pull off a petty robbery at a corner store and accidentally stumble upon something far more valuable and dangerous than they bargained for. Suddenly, they're being hunted by a ruthless criminal network, turning the streets of South London into a deadly playground. Expect plenty of twists, turns, and probably a healthy dose of Cockney slang.

What’s really interesting here is the dual-format approach. Shogun isn't just dipping a toe into the microdrama waters; they're diving in headfirst, but with a safety net. By simultaneously shooting a full-length feature version, they're maximizing their potential audience and creating two distinct products from a single production. As Sothcott himself puts it, "The vertical microdrama market is the hottest format in the business right now," and Shogun wants to plant its flag firmly in that territory. He even cheekily referenced *Lock Stock*, pointing out that, with Nick Moran's involvement, it feels like things have come full circle.

Andy Taylor, Commercial Director for Trinity Content Partners, highlights the transformative power of vertical storytelling. He argues that *Swipe!* embodies the kind of "bold, high-energy British genre filmmaking" that Trinity wants to champion. And it's true, isn't it? We're consuming content in completely different ways now, often on our phones, one short video at a time.

This partnership between Shogun and Trinity extends beyond *Swipe!*. Their collaboration includes the Martin Kemp serial killer thriller *Doctor Plague*, which was released earlier this year, and the upcoming horror *Harbinger*, as well as *The Secret of Guy Fawkes*, which is currently in production. It seems like this is just the beginning of a fruitful relationship, one that could reshape the landscape of British independent cinema. Maybe I should start practicing filming in portrait mode…
