Well folks, it's finally happening. After what feels like an eternity – and honestly, a fair amount of skepticism from some corners – Nintendo has officially announced that "Metroid Prime 4: Beyond" is launching on December 4th. Yes, you read that right, *both* Switch 1 and Switch 2. Seems Nintendo is hedging its bets, and who can blame them?
Metroid Prime 4 Secret REVEALED! Is THIS the Best ...
The big news, beyond the release date of course, is the deep dive Nintendo’s given us on the amiibo functionality. We knew they’d be involved, but the extent of their integration is pretty interesting, bordering on… controversial? From customizing Samus’s new vehicle (apparently she's got a ride now!) to providing in-game boosts, the amiibo seem poised to offer a variety of perks. But the real kicker? One of them unlocks a secret movie that would normally require you to 100% complete the game. Let’s unpack that.
So, the Sylux amiibo, ringing up at a cool $29.99, essentially gives you a shortcut. Normally, you'd have to painstakingly scan every single creature and find every hidden item across the entire game to unlock this secret movie. We're talking serious dedication, likely involving hours of scouring every nook and cranny of Viewros with a guide open on your phone. Now, you can just tap an amiibo. I can see the arguments already forming on both sides of this one. On one hand, it’s a reward for dedicated gameplay… on the other, it’s… well, it’s a shortcut you can buy. Your call.
The Metroid Prime Samus amiibo is a bit less impactful, but still useful. It grants you a daily shield that restores Samus's health and can absorb up to 99 points of damage. Handy for those tough boss fights, I imagine. Plus, this amiibo lets you change the music while you're cruising around Sol Valley in Samus’s new vehicle, the Vi-O-La. I have to admit, the music customization is a nice touch. It adds a layer of personalization that I always appreciate.
It’s worth remembering that while we got the excellent "Metroid Prime" remake last year, "Metroid Prime 4" is the *first* original, numbered entry in the Prime series since 2016's "Metroid Prime 3: Corruption" on the Wii. That’s a long time. This game is a big deal. Samus is answering a distress signal from the Galactic Federation and finds herself on the enigmatic planet Viewros. What awaits her there? We'll find out soon enough. And speaking of findings, don't forget to check out our analysis of the trailer – we’ve been dissecting every frame!
