Macy's Parade Shatters Records! TV Milestone Stuns Millions - What's Next?
Movies & TV Series 29 November 2025

Well, folks, it seems like the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is more popular than ever! Forget that post-turkey nap, it looks like millions were glued to their screens this year, making it a record-breaking day for NBC and Peacock.

Macy's Parade Shatters Records! TV Milestone Stuns...

Preliminary Nielsen data shows a whopping 34.3 million viewers tuned in across both platforms. Let me tell you, that's a lot of turkey-induced TV watchers! That's an 8% jump from last year, adding an extra 2.5 million pairs of eyes to the colorful spectacle. It just goes to show, some traditions are timeless.

The initial 8:30 a.m. ET broadcast on NBC alone snagged 25.4 million viewers. That makes it the most-watched entertainment telecast in almost seven years. The only thing to beat it? ABC's broadcast of the 2019 Academy Awards. And for those all-important 18-49 year olds, the parade was the highest-rated entertainment telecast in five years! That's since NBC's very own 2020 Thanksgiving Day Parade, if you're keeping track. Apparently, giant balloons and marching bands are still a hit with the younger crowd. They saw a 13% increase in viewership compared to last year, and folks under 25 jumped up a full 20%!

Jen Neal, EVP of Live Events and Specials at NBCUniversal Entertainment, was understandably thrilled. "These record-breaking numbers signify how beloved this parade is to our audience, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to begin the holiday season on such a wonderful note," she said in a statement. "A profound thank you to Macy’s for their partnership in producing such an iconic event." It’s a partnership that clearly works, delivering a holiday tradition year after year.

Sharon Otterman, chief marketing officer at Macy’s, echoed that sentiment. "This year’s record-breaking ratings are a powerful testament to the creative mastery, technical precision, and storytelling ambition Macy’s offers," she stated. "As we look toward the 100th Macy’s Parade, we remain dedicated to leveraging our unique capabilities to inspire wonder and joy for millions nationwide, ensuring our programs exceed expectations year after year." 100 years? It's amazing how something that started so long ago continues to captivate. Who knows what the next century of parades will bring? I, for one, will be watching (probably still recovering from that turkey coma).
